Man Who Set Himself on Fire Outside Trump's Trial Identified
Maxwell Crosby Azzarello, 37, Now in Critical Condition
Anti-Establishment Activist Had History of Posting Conspiracies Online
The man who set himself on fire outside of Manhattan court during former President Donald Trump's hush money trial on Friday has been identified as Maxwell Crosby Azzarello, 37.
Azzarello is now in critical condition in Cornell's burn unit, according to the NYPD. He has a long history of posting anti-establishment conspiracies online and had set himself on fire just moments after posting a message on Instagram.
The lawsuit that Azzarello filed against dozens of defendants, including Trump, gives his full name as Maxwell Crosby Azzarello.
Law enforcement confirmed Azzarello's identity, who had been previously identified only as "John Doe." The motive for his self-immolation is still under investigation.
