Poland to Acquire U.S.-Designed Patriot Missile Launchers
Poland Inks Deal for 48 Launchers
Boosting Air Defense Capabilities
Poland has signed a contract to purchase 48 launchers for the U.S.-designed Patriot missile system, significantly enhancing its air defense capabilities. The agreement, valued at approximately $2.5 billion, was announced on Monday and is aimed at strengthening Poland's defense against potential threats.
The Patriot system, produced by Raytheon Technologies, is a highly advanced air defense system capable of intercepting and destroying aerial targets, including aircraft, missiles, and drones. Poland's acquisition of 48 launchers will provide it with a robust network of long-range air defense coverage.
In addition to the launchers, Poland has also agreed to purchase 12 Lower-Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensors, further bolstering its ability to detect and track airborne threats. The system will be integrated into Poland's existing air defense architecture, providing a comprehensive and layered protection from aerial attacks.
